    Hi,

Having searched through the threads on the site and then getting totally lost and confused. I have had decided to post here! I do hope someone can assist me with my problem When I attempt to start Microsoft Works this is the message I receive:- "Microsoft Works cannot access one or more files needed to run. The files may have been renamed, deleted or moved. Try reinstalling Microsoft Works, and then start again ". I would try to do so, however, my pc is partitioned and all files are there!! Also, I did a System Recovery, on the 27th August, as a result of an update, that I received from Microsoft advising me to download it. After doing so, my pc was unable to get past the restart screen and the only option was to perform a System Recovery. Therefore, would this be the reason why I am now experiencing problems with Microsoft Works and am I right in thinking, that often some files etc are affected by doing so?? Any help and or assistance would be gratefully appreciated at this stage, whether suggestions of a repair tool for missing files or if advisable to access "partitioned files" (which I am dreading).
I use XP Home Edition SP2

    Many Thanks LatteCubana

Did you perform a restore, or a recovery?

Is this an OEM version of Works (did it come with the PC)?

    Hi,

Can you please post you oem information? By that, I am referring to your your manufacturer and model of computer. Please, also add the version of MS Works. I see you refer to a "Task Launcher" snafu can you give or add specific details and quote the entire error? The event viewer may help with the retrival of exact error:
How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427

^Your application repair options and posted directions may vary based on the above information.

Not knowing the above ^, the best advice I can offer is slim at best. I know there is an option to "repair Works" its self, as opposed to uninstall or reinstall. It may be in the startmenu>programs file list under any "MSWorks folder" or using the control panel>add remove programs icon and clicking on the MSWorks to highlight it. Perhaps, if this is a suite, another MSWorks application may open. If so, usually in the menubar, possibly under "Help" there is a repair function.

I know that's not very specific directions. I don't use Works and am not familiar with the specifics. Even if I was, oem's have their own "Do, Don't and Won't" way of doing things. You may wish to wait for more specific directions. They can be provided when you update post with additional requested information.

    To BilbO:
My apologies BilbO, for slipping in on this. I figured you'd need the requested information anyway. I just had a little time on my hands while watching another post and thought I'd do something useful while waiting.
