Xp Home, SP2, Toshiba Laptop-------------I have a very auotmated computer with sound events and audible warings for almost everything and have dug deep , but no resolutions yet. I am trying to add a sound event to and incorrect password event at the windows logon screen. I can generate error bubble with a red x asking me if I have forgotten my password, but am unable to locate the proper key folder in the reg to add a sound event to go along with the bubble. I have tried appling it to the windows error and windows question sound events and those are not correct. I have already applied a sound event for the correct password ( which is actually the windows logon sound since if a correct password is produced), then windows does what it is suppossed to do and logs on .My thoughts are that anything is possible but as in the past , I have found that some things are harder than they sound-----------------------anyone out there tried this before?----as minimal of a task as this is ? I'm sure I'm just missing something simple. Any input would be greatly apprieciated;)

Thinking out loud here - until you log in Windows is not 'authenticated' so the sound system is inoperative??

Yes , I agree with that , but if windows has already been logged onto and the screensaver requires you to give a password at the logon window ----wouldn't the sound system already be active ?

In that case - yes, but I read your post as referring to the initial log on screen as the computer boots. The screensaver password, IMO is completely different - Windows is up and running :)

Any ways round I realy can't help you on this - should you find a solution please let us know.

If you don't mind - inquiring minds are curious as to why you want to do this....

For the knowledge and because I have been told ( Can't do it ) And as for the missinterpretation of my origional post ---sorry ---I do mean the logon screen where users can switch------but only after windows has been up and running , and this event is after the screensaver has kicked in-------when mouse moves ----user logon screen appears.

Also ---it stands to reason that all events are controlled by the registry, so if I can isolate the key that generates the bubble , I should be able to add a sound event to it by normal proceedures at that point, thus havingit show up in CP\sounds and from there edit it with whatever I want-----------BUT-----------finding the needle in the hay stack applies here me thinks
