hp pavillion laptop dv1000 power problems

hello, my friends hp dv1000 laptop only powers up when the lid is closed as soon as you open it you see the desktop for a second or two then if shuts down, i think may have something to do with the switch that operates the lid, does anyone have any experience with this or know what I need to do, thank you.

 

Have you opened the laptop before?
Maybe they assembled the display unit in a wrong position causing it to hit the switch thus turning the laptop into standby mode.

I just opened up my laptop and i didn't fix the monitor back properly and it happened to me.

 

actually the laptop has never been opened, they have owned it for over a year and it just started acting up. maybe I should open it and have a look. doing a google this is what I found and it seems to be the same issue. read the botton part in light blue
