.NET Framework 2 SP will not install

I am going crazy trying to install this update. I have tried everything I can find on the net and nothing works. I have tried uninstalling all versions then reinstalling and have just tried to install under XP SAFE mode but to no avail.

Anyone got anything different to try?

 

Is there any error message ? How are you installing the update - thru net [Windows Update] or thru downloaded/saved program ?

 

Error message just says update was not installed.

Have tried installing through Windows Update and direct download, also from safe mode. Nada

What XP service pack are you using ?

 

SP2 I wanted to do all my updating before moving to SP3

 

Seems others have suffered through this and come up with a method that may work. It's worth a read anyway.
