Hello, can anyone tell me why can open a folder (that is having files copied to it on another machine) over a network before all files in the directory are not copied yet.

Can you post your question again, rephrasing it. At the moment I can't work out what you are trying to do.

Are you wondering if you can view files appearing in a shared folder as another user adds them?

Well, I started to access a program across my network that was in the process of being copied from another drive. I caught it in time, but I think I could have ******* it up if I tried to run it.

Programs are just a collection of files, some of them executable. When you copy a number of files from one place to another, there is nothing to stop another network client accessing each file as it arrives. There isn't a lock that will prevent use until the whole lot are copied.

While you access files (or run a program which leads to the program accessing files) the system can prevent those files from being copied. Therefore, if you set off a copy process and then access those files (directly or indirectly) it is very likely that some of the files will not get copied.

The good news is that there is a simple fix. Just repeat the copy process, but this time don't run the program or otherwise access the files until the copy process is complete.
