Getting a Blue screen when loading windows xp

    Hi,
    every time i shitch my laptop on i get offerd to start windows xp normally or in safe mode etc.. when i select one of the options i get a blue error screen and it restarts my laptop but the screen dosent stay on 4 long so i dong get a chance to read it all but it says something like theirs a problem windows has to shud down to prevent damage.. i no its not much but is their any way you no whats going on and maybe a way to fix it.

    If you don't have the Windows install disk, take it to Circuit City and the Geek Squad, you are SOL without it. You may be able to get a windows install disk from the manufacture (HP is quite good about this).

    If you have the Windows install disk for your laptop, you can try to boot from it and when it asks if you want to repair windows, say yes.

    If that works, then do a virus scan first thing.

    If that does not work, I am sorry, but you will probably have to do a clean install.

    If the clean install does not work, it is probably the hardware.

    If you do not have a dump, ensure that your machine is configured to write out a dump by following the directions from microsoft
