Norton AV (maybe only older versions, i.e., 2005 or less) is incompatible with security connections to email servers (SSL). When trying to access your server using SSL, you are blocked and Norton refers you to a site for a fix. One fix is to upgrade for $60. The other is to remove email AV scanning. However, we removed that aspect of the antiviral activity and the popup still comes up. Does anyone know of a workaround for this, or is the only cure another security suite or antiviral app?
Running Win XP on Dell Precision 360.

Follow up to above. The solution to be sure that the outgoing mail port is set to 465 and NOT 25. This bypasses Norton's refusal to allow SSL connections.

Follow up to above. The cure is to be sure that portal 465 is chosen for outgoing mail. If 25 (the other option) is chosen Norton will not allow encrypted messages.
The selections are made in setting up Outlook Express Properties (Advanced Tab) section.
