    Hi ravikris
Welcome to the boards! Can you give us a few system specs? What O/S.....what version of IE are you running? When did this start happening?

Run an AV scan and then run Ad-Aware.

If that doesn't fix it, follow the steps described in this article (the referenced error message is not the same - but those steps can nonetheless help to resolve this issue too).

If the problem still persists, update your video drivers.

    Hi again
I'm not sure if you saw Brett's posting on a possible solution.....as it appears you were typing about the same time? So....just incase....I'm bumping this back up.
Let us know how you make out.

    thanks for your message..
I did follow your advice and Brett's advice.
None of them worked out well. The problem still persists. I couldn't open "my computer ", "control panel ", "windows explorer ", etc.
But the operating system is working fine. I went and open the my computer properties of each device, everything looks fine. No conflicts. no error messages. i did reinstall the o/s again. It doesn't help any way. If you could help me, that would be great. you may meet me online in yahoo messanger..

You could try updating your user.exe and user32.dll. Go here and get the 1394 Storage Supplement [242975.exe]. If you get the Mapped Drives Update [260067.exe], only those two files will be updated.

You're still getting the exact same error message?

Try booting into safe mode and see if it still happens.

    If it still does:
Restart in Safe mode again, use the System Configuration Utility tool (Msconfig.exe) to minimize conflicts that may be causing the problem:

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Information.
On the Tools menu, click System Configuration Utility.
On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the following check boxes:
    Process Config.sys File
    Process Autoexec.bat File
    Process Winstart.bat File (if available)
    Process System.ini File
    Process Win.ini File
    Load Startup Group Items
Click OK, and then restart your computer normally when you are prompted. After you restart and test your computer, if you still do not receive the error message, continue with the next steps.
Run the System Configuration Utility tool, click to select one item in the Selective Startup box, click OK, and then restart your computer and test.
Continue this process until all of the items in the Selective Startup box are selected. If you select an item and your issue reoccurs, click the tab of the corresponding item in Selective Startup, clear half of the check boxes, click OK, and then restart your computer. Continue this process until you narrow down the setting that is causing your problem.
If you can restart your computer successfully when all items are checked, run the System Configuration Utility tool, click to select Normal Startup, click OK, and then restart your computer.
