Toolbar is gone!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the boards. I saw a post from Lorraine and I don't see a final solution. I have a similar problem. I no longer have an address bar to type web addresses in. I no longer have any toolbar at all. I only have the blue at the top with the explorer icon and that's it. Seems nothing I try helps. If anyone has any ideas I'd be ever grateful.

Do you have the toolbar which lists the File, Edit, View, etc options? If so, right-click on it and you'll be presented with options relating to the other (missing) toolbars.

If the toolbar listing those options is also missing, open RegEdit and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

You'll see 3 sub-keys: Explorer, ShellBrowser, WebBrowser each of which contain an entry for ITBarLayout. Delete the ITBarLayout value under each sub-key.

Close RegEdit and reboot.

If you don't feel comfortable editing the registry, try using Kelly Theriot's Toolbar Repair Utility.

Thanks, Brett. Apparently you know what you're doing. I'm a novice so much of that didn't make sense to me. I do not have a toolbar with Edit or anything else for that matter. I think I'll take your advice and start with the Repair Utility. Wish me luck.
