I have the problem that when my western digital 500gb hard drive is connected to the pc and switched on vista is booting up to 3 minutes longer than usual. I avoided this by plugging in the external drive after vista was up and running. However I was wondering whether there is a way to solve the problem differentlt. Not sure about bios settings. any help would be great

You can go My Computer, right-click on the drive -> Properties -> Tools tab and run Error Checking on the drive.

It may be due to the antivirus running scans on the files.
