    Rotating Icons

Hi, I'm using Windows 98 and the icons on my desktop are swapping places whenever i move the cursor over them. I have 192 MB RAM and have not changed my system settings since the last time the system worked. All of my devices are properly configured and there are no conflicts in the device manager.

    not quite

The icons do not physically move, they swap places with other icons whenever the mouse rolls over them (except at the bottom of the screen, where there are fewer icons).

I think it is low memory, but can't be sure since I don't know what the CPU is (there is a manufacturer logo on bootup). I suspect memory because when I was on the computer there was a noticeable delay in between typing text and when it would appear on the screen. Like 1-2 seconds noticeable.

One other thing- this isn't my computer, it is a friend's computer. So if you want to know more system specs it will take a day or two to get them.

edit: added in why I think it's low memory

As JohnB suggested...first thing I'd do is rule out a virus.
Perhaps just use a free online scanner such as:
    Grisoft
    Housecall
    Panda
    Symantec

    And for Trojans.....might I suggest:
    Tauscan

    OUCH!!!!!!

Perhaps introduce her to the free antivirus AVG ? I recently switched one of my computers that was running Norton's...and have had great luck with it.
