At work we have 20 desktops, 3 servers and 1 wifi router connected to a common router. We have two laptops which connects online and to the network via the wireless router.
My minor problem is that I can't access the wireless router's setting from my desktop. I've tried to ping it, but it timed out. I can easily ping every other pc on the network, excluding the laptops, but I can ping everything that's attached to the network from the laptops.
I can access the router setting from the laptops, and the router's remote management is turned on.
Anybody have an idea of how to find the router.

    in a command window:
    ipconfig /all
The router will be listed as "gateway ".

From a wireless laptop, yes. But the wireless router doesn't work as a gateway for the desktop.
The desktops are connected via LAN cables to a cross field, which are connected to a router, which finally are connected to a modem.
The wireless router is connected same as the desktops, directly to the LAN, crossfield and onto the same router as the desktops.
The wireless router's only purpose is to provide online access to the two laptops (which works fine).
I changed a setting in the wireless router so now it respond to ping's (didn't before). I can now ping it, but still, how do I access the wireless router from a desktop or is it simply impossible to access it this way?
If I enter the wireless routers IP address in Internet Explorer on a laptop, I can access the routers settings. If I enter the wireless routers IP address in Internet Explorer on a desktop it cannot find that address.

Which port have you used to connect the wireless router to your network? If you've used the external/WAN one, it will most likely block access to the admin pages from the wired LAN. If you connect the wireless router to the wired network via one of the internal/LAN ports, you should get access via IP address from the wired network.

Oh! and for this to work, the wireless router needs to be using the same IP subnet as the wired network.

I did use the WAN port, so that sounds plausible. I'll reconfigure the router one of these days and see how it acts.
Thanks a bunch, I just got a bit more smarter :)

When using 2 routers (your gateway and the wifi) it's best to disable the dhcp function in the access point and let the main gateway handle ALL dhcp. The access point-router should be connected via a lan port. What's a "cross field "? Do you mean a switch?
