Is the linksys adapter wifi or wired? Is it the correct driver for win98? What's the adapter model?

That adapter won't work with Windows 98.
    There are 3 manufactured versions (1, 2 & 4) of that adapter:
Version 1 works only with Windows 2000 or XP.
Versions 2 & 4 will work w/ Windows 98 Second Edition, Me, 2000 or XP.
    Specs:
    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Sate...rapper&lid=4377527517B03&displaypage=download

Windows 98 has poor usb support while Windows 98 SE has enhanced usb support. I would suggest not using a usb adapter with any Windows 98 versions and get a pci wifi adapter, or better yet, upgrade the operating system.

IMHO, running wireless on Win98 is royal pain. It eats up your resources like mad and slows down the system to a crawl.

    Better avoid if you can.

Looks like a good place for a wireless game adapter.

The game adapter has an Ethernet port you can plug into the 98 machine once configured.

if its a newer adapter its most likely not windows 98 native
    the ibms , intels were
smc and generics usually were not
older dlinks were - but not anything newer
Look on the card for the model and hunt out the driver
If its wireless then almost for sure
driverguide is a good place to find these drivers
also if it is an intel card - then the ethernet cable has to be in for it to set up
