    Hi Everyone
I just joined you yesterday so excuse me if I am getting in a muddle re where I am posting stuff. So Geri recommended I post my current problem in 98's posting so here it is:

I have been searching the web to try and find an answer to my immediate problem at work. I have been using an old PC with Windows 98 and things have been going downhill lately. I also have another PC on my desk with Windows XP which I use for another part of my Company.
So what I am trying to do is backup some data from Windows 98 and then restore it into a programme on XP. Well I thought that would be easy but seemingly not. Floppy disc on 98 but not on XP. CD Rom on 98 (LG 52X max) but you can't use it to copy - not very helpful is it. USB ports on 98 but no driver so what is a girl to do?
Can anyone help me on this one - it is my wages programme so its pretty important I get it right - ha! ha! just thought I'd add that in to get you all thinking.................

cassis - Welcome to the Board :)

Your best solution is to use a USB flash drive, but you say....
For what - Win 98 or a USB flash drive?

To use a flash drive in W98 requires a driver which is generally supplied with the drive or can be downloaded from the manufacturer's web site. If it is the flash drive driver that you are lacking post the make, capacity and model no. if any of the flash drive and we'll try to find the driver for you.

A floppy drive will be OK only if the files, zipped or otherwise will fit on a floppy :)

That said WinZip will zip across multiple floppies - or it used to be able to.

You could use a CAT5 cable (the kind you use to hook up a DSL modem), and create a private network between the two computers.

Hi Everyone, thanks all for your help in giving me all your help on trnsferring data from 98 to XP..
Well I have done it. I had to download the USB Pen Drivers (I used PNY) for Win 98 in order to use a USB stick. Once I had done that I coup backup my data.
I then had to download the same driver onto XP in order to restore the data to my Payroll programme. Well it sounds easy now I have done it but when you don't know these things its a bit scarey in case you lose everything.

Anyway thats that and now I still have another question, and being a new girl, so to speak shall I do it hear or do I have to find another thread. It is about linking two PC's to one keyboard as that would give me more space if I could
