I have XP Pro on business computer and it started having problems about a month ago. When I go into Explore to view files on my system, approximately 85% of the time it crashed with the Data Core Prevention Error and I can't see or copy anything. Then my Outlook 2007 started "losing it's grip" and it freezes up or says it can't find the business contact file. What is going on?

    hi,
I don't see any solution except reinstalling your system, or try maybe repairing before formating !

    have a nice day !

That's a last resort, but definitely not a starting point!

Is it a Data Execution Prevention error? If so, how is your computers DEP set? See this article for some background: Data Execution Prevention.

Have you scanned your system for Virus/Malware recently?

    Explore Crash

I've run AVG - network version - didn't find anything. I REALLY don't want to restall. I've got soooooo many settings and I don't have 3 days to rip and restore. I'm going to check the DEP settings and yes, that is what I meant. (Sorry fighting with computers for last 3 days and I'm tired). Thank you.

A similar situation has been happening to my PC after installing SP3 which I understand is a registry editor fault. Google for 'system rebooting after installing SP3' where you might get your answer.

I'd still like to know how DEP is set on your computer, but you could also have a look here: Troubleshooting Windows Explorer Errors. The problem can be caused by a 3rd party shell extension.
