    Hi all,

I'm having trouble resizing and/or merging 3 NTFS partitions, 4 total, 1 FAT32, 3 NTFS, 40g total. All looks fine, click OK, the system is rebooted but all the partitions remain as they were prior to starting, with no errors or messages.

Using PM 8.01 with WinXP. The FAT32 has W98 in it. (I wouldn't mind getting rid of W98, don't use it.)

    Any Ideas?

    Thx, h

Can not offer a solution per Partition Magic, as I have no experience using it. Two years ago when I decided to include drive imaging in my backup routines, went with Acronis True Image. For most drives / computer configurations, partitioning is going to be a requirement, so I also purchased Acronis Disk Director Suite 10. It has performed flawlessly on 3 computers and 5 HDD's ... IDE and SATA interfaced. This includes one computer being an OEM / HP / Compaq... currently has 4 partitions, including OEM's original restore partition. This past month I assembled my own external, purchasing eSata / USB2 enclosure and a 750GB Sata 2 /32MB HDD. The drive came unformatted. I chose to format the drive installed in the enclosure. When I booted the eSata ported external for the first time BIOS seen it, XP seen it ... but XP Disk Manager would not allow option to format drive (grayed out). I loaded Disk Director Suite and it seen and allowed immediate access to format. 5 minutes later I had an ultra fast external at my beck and call.

    Suggestion
Before attempting any of the above processes, backup, backup, backup. This includes multiple images and data backups residing on different internals/computers and or externals.

since windows 98 is first,You cannot remove it without having problems..
Also you cannot resize from fat32 to NTFS... Either keep windows 98, or Wipe the whole drive and start fresh... I have a Qaud boot,Running XP/Longhorn/Vista/And Win 2008 workstation..I use Partition magic to clean/resize and to install fresh all the time..
