Really weird. It stopped working! I am going to uninstall the few applications I got on here and see what happens.

I had that same thing to me happen with (I believe) NAV (2005?).

Mike, wanted to say Dial-a-Fix worked on my testbox.

For some reason nothing I did would allow me to access WU after last months update.

No specific fixes were around for the error I had beyond what I had already tried, BITS was working as it should as was Event Log.

Glad I stumbled upon this post. Thanx!

You are welcome! Glad you gave me a chance to rave about it.

DAF dosen't get the recognition it derserves on this BBS. But it is a simple tool that basically unregisters and reregisters DLL's and refresh ActiveX etc.

When it does go thru this process and reports a "File not found" or other error that is good news as I know no better way to find something missing when I don't know something is missing.:)

It is a great way to have someone who is inexperienced do such things as reset TCP/IP permissions etc.

It is a Tool to be used almost any time there is an issue that can not be pinpointed directly!

How do the DLL's, ActiveX and permissions get out of whack? Malware, some Reg cleaners (sometimes), aborted program installs, blue screens at just the right moment, bad updates plus more.

When I have a deeply infected computer DAF is the first thing I run when I feel it is clean. Just to be sure.

It is a shame it will not work on Vista!

Sadly it may never, as the developer Michael Cook (DJLIZARD) has moved to another Field. He is trying to find a company to take it over and run with it.

I guess similar to Trend taking HJT, which they have improved little and most of that little came from Merijin Bellekom that he gave them.

    I haven't installed any anti-virus or anti-spyware programs yet.

I clean installed yet again and installed each program one at a time while testing the RD. So far it still works. I think the culprit is a program called Tuneup Utilities 2008. When you use the optimize internet option from the program, it changes some of your TCP/IP settings. I'm going to continue installing programs and testing and I'll let you know when I found out for sure what caused the problem.

If you have to use that, when you do install do it like this!

    Do explicit System restore.

Then the install the Tweak 2008!
    Run it!

    Reboot and test.

    If RDP whacked do Restore.

    Reboot.

Test RDP if back you now know what it is.

So I tested out the Tuneup program and my remote desktop ran fine. It's when I install Photoshop when things stop working. I'm not really sure why it's happening. Could it be that bonjour service that Adobe installs?

I've always stayed miles away from Adobe's bloatware, so can't help you there...
