I no longer have access to IE6 - you really should be running IE7 by now :) - anyway follow the suggestions below in the order posted .....

In IE - Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet > scroll to Downloads and check that they are enabled.

If you have access to another computer download IEFix and run on your computer.

Likewise if you can download Firefox on another computer and install on yours test to see if the problem remains - if so it is clearly an IE issue.

If the above two suggestions are not feasible .....

Temporarily disable your firewall and any antispyware programs and test - re-enable firewall and test .....

If all of the above fail to resolve the problem try creating a new User Account and see if you can download through that. If you can transfer your old account data to the new account and delete the old - it may be corrupted.

Tools > Internet Options > Security tab. Select Internet & click the Default Level button. That should fix it.

You can also click Custom Level & make sure that under Downloads > File Download, Enable is selected.

If your new account is working OK it is safe to assume that your original account had become corrupted - it happens :)
