I am curious, my laptop has a lot of custom features, custom boot screen, modified start menu button and a few other mods.

Is it possible to make an XP CD with these changes in it?

Yes. If you have a dvd burner, you can use Norton Ghost or simialr disk imaging software to make a "restore" cd. In the event of catastrophe you can use the disk to restore the drive just as it now exists.

to make an xp install cd - don't think so - msoft does not allow tampering with its source code aka linux
to make a ghost image for easy restore at some point
yes - you could use Norton Ghost
The earlier versions ( 2002 or so) create a bootable floppy or a floppy you run after booting from a windows 98 diskette cd
You can create a ghost restore disk on cds , dvd or onto a spare hard drive
When you "restore" the drive you will overwrite that drive and its data

    Sure you can!
You can use sysprep tool from MS to make custom install cds and as well many oem comps don't come w/ an install cd, they come with versions of Ghost or similar system recovery tools that can make a bootable cd(s) or dvd(s), along w/ all of your user settings and configs. You can do the same w/ BartPE.

In fact..not only is it possible...

    Hi!
Yes..of course it is possible. That's typically the realm of a OEM system builder, though. Microsoft provides system builders with OPK's to preinstall OS's...and many other things as the Office trials that are quite common.
