I find it hard to read those old documents on the web that are formatted so that the line only goes halfway across the page. It wastes paper and its not natural for me, so when I do get this, I like to copy/paste it without formatting, then print it up. To remove that tough to get formatting, I use a program called stripmail, which is generally pretty good. Today, however, I had to resort to another solution--I pasted this text into an html composer, and then did a search for <br> in the Source page, and then replaced it with a space. This did it, but I'm thinking that there has to be another way.

Paste Special with Unformatted Text, Ctrl+Q, Ctrl+spacebar, selecting Normal or remove formatting--all in Word-- didn't do it.

Is there any other foolproof way to remove that pesky formatting that I'm not aware of?

Old Web docs are similar formatting to newsgroup & email docs, word wraps at 72 characters. Show me an example page so I can look at it and maybe even write a small script that does the 100% width formatting.

Thanks, Tony. Here is the page. Its a long file, tho.

    http://www.constitution.org/hames/sdfr.txt

What I was looking at (what gave me trouble) was the text of teh Nashville Convention. You can just do a page-find for 131 and 6/7 of the way down the page, you'll find it. I copied/pasted all 28 resolutions and you'll see what happens. The Nash. Conv. itself isn't log, but the page itself is--it has a ton of other historical documents.

Thanks, Tony, that did it. I had to select the "remove line AND page break" but that took out all the paragraph formatting, so all I had to do was get the cursor at the beginning of each paragraph and hit enter, instead of work the Delete, End, and Down Arrow keys with almost every line. Much obliged.

Glad it worked for you. You can do a google search for similar tools using javascript instead of php and then save that page and javascript to your drive and run it locally.
