Well, this is not strictly true. http://dualphone.net claim they do not support Vista. But despite some initial problems, I did eventually get it working successfully with Skype under Vista (Business) SP1. I even wrote into Skype forums explaining how I did it, to others who were having the same problems.

Unfortunately, after a hard disk failure I had to completely reinstall Vista - and Dualphone suite - used to connect my usb cordless dualphone - no longer does the job. It must have been more luck than judgement last time - because, following my own instructions doesn't help at all. The program simply fails to find Skype. So the option in Skype to allow it to connect to Dualphone suite is not available (Tools, Options, Advanced, 'Manage other programs access to Skype' - does not show anything to allow or disallow). Disabling my Comodo firewall and allowing the program and Skype through Windows Firewall also does not help.

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions. If they work - I'll post them onto the Skype forums with a link to Windows BBS...

Ho Hum...Problem solved. The issue is to get Skype to allow the DualPhone. But it needs Vista's Sound (Control Panel, Sound) to be reset so that the 'usb phone' is set as default for 'recording'. Once this is done - Skype finally pops up a system tray alert, whereupon you need to go into Skype, Tools, Options, Advanced - and this time 'Manage other programs access to Skype' when clicked, does indeed show the dualphone - as disallowed. Obviously you change that, then save and out. Now, all you need to do is go back to Vista's Control Panel' and set your normal microphone as default (if your computer has a built in mic, that is). I'm not really sure whether or not I played with Vista's Sound 'playback' control, too - but I'm pretty sure it was the 'recording' control which set off the mutual recognition process between the two applications.

I hope this helps some others (and it would be nice if the dualphone.net people changed their Q&As from 'does not work in Vista' - to - this is how you get it to work!)
