WMP11 is causing me a problem. I burnt a DVD on a RW disc using Image Burn. WMP will not play the disc (shows little red x) but VLC Player and PowerDVD both play the the DVD . The burnt dvd was tested on Gspot which reports "˜codecs Installed’ but at the bottom of Gspot I pressed 1 and gspot displays "˜Status -..not rendered yet’ press 2 ,on 5 lines. On press 2 shows three errors 0x80040207 and two lines "˜Press 3 to play’ . When pressed 3 it shows video correctly on its test panel.
Finally, I played the disc on another PC and WMP plays correctly. Any ideas please?

Sorry Pete, but standard WMP11 does not play DVD.
Dialog Box on 11 will tell you:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer "
And unless you do find one it will not play DVD's WMP 10 will do I have 10 installed in one PC and 11 in another and the same DVD will play in 10 but not in 11.
If you Google for that it will tell you so, maybe Pete you have a decoder there from some other Program have a look and carlos might be able to get it, and me too :D :D :D
Like WMP 10 will not rip to MP3, but if you have Nero Recode installed it will.

Try installing VLC media player, with luck it will share it's codec with WMP. If not, you can play your movies with VLC.

Good point Dennis, the PC that has WMP10 on it has VLC installed, I will install it in the other PC and see. Good test.

Almost certainly I guess - that point had not occurred to me :)

Yes, I have Nero 7 and PowerDVD installed.

    Hi hawk22 and all
I have solved the problem by reinstalling WMP11 plus Nero 7,and WMP11 is now playing the burnt dvd correctly (maybe Nero helped here). However, it is not displaying subtitles, while VLC shows ok. Any more ideas please.
