Running MS Office Professional 2003 on Windows XP HE v.2, SP2. My MS Outlook 2003 SP2 has some problems, such that I really need to uninstall it completely and reinstall a new, clean MS Outlook, as if starting from scratch. Detect and Repair was useless.
    1. I used the XP Add/Remove Software tool to uninstall Outlook (after exporting folders I wanted to keep for the new install).
    2. Shut down and rebooted Windows.
    3. Used the XP Add/Remove Software tool to reinstall Outlook.
When I opened the 'new' Outlook, it had retained all the previous folders and settings, as if I had never uninstalled. Nothing resolved.
How can I completely remove Outlook and installa new, clean MS Outlook, as if starting from scratch?

    Reinstalling Outlook Pro 2003

Wow. I guess I have totally stumped the experts?!? :p

Anyway, since the offending data was contained in the .pst files, I went through the same cycle as listed above, but this time, after using the Export tool to save my Contacts data and selected folders, e.g., Sent and Inbox, for later re-importing, I deleted the two .pst files. ...Reinstalled Outlook.

But now, Outlook refuses to open because it "can't find the .pst files "! Grrrr. One would assume that, since there were no .pst files at all when the original Outlook was installed, ergo it created what it needed; that it would once again create new .pst files when it was (re)installed as a new application. But nooooo.

    Any suggestions?

Outlook was retaining settings from the original PST.

For the new issue, create a new Outlook profile.

Outlook retains settings from original PST

    1. Original PST is not there any more (deleted as noted above).

    2. Outlook won't open now because it can't find PST (deleted as noted above).

Look in Control Panel->MAIL and create a new pst file there.
