I am trying to restore my system to 7-23-2008 and I get a message that the system has not been restored. Then I changed the date to 7-19-2008 and got the same message. Any suggestions?
I am wondering if the following has anything to do with not being able to use "System Restore ".
Last night I installed "How to print a folder file" into Windows Explorer using the directions shown at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=272623. It worked just fine but then I came up with changes in how I can reach folders within the system. I want to remove this from the system as it is a pain to finally get to the folders.
Such as reaching the folder "My Pictures ". I used to click on desktop "My Documents" and it would list the folders and I would click on "My pictures" folder and all files would show. Now I click on desktop "My Documents, it lists all the folders o.k. When I click on "My Pictures, it goes to Windows Explorer and I have to click on "My documents" again to find the folder and eventually my files will show.
    1. Any suggestions on how to remove "Print Folder Directory" from Windows Explorer.
    2. How can I get my System Restore to work again.
I am using XP with IE. Hopefully you can help me out.
    Sincerely,
    Claire B

Methinks you were unwise to follow that KB as it ....
    not XP :)

However reversing the steps in the KB article may solve the problem ....

In Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Oprions > File Types scroll to (NONE)File Folder, click on Advanced - highlight Print Directory Listing in the Actions window and hit Remove.

Problem with System Restore may well be a corrupted Restore Point - the only way to resolve that is to turn off System Restore, reboot and turn it back on - all restore points will be lost.

As a check after re-initiating System Restore make a manual Restore point and see if it works.

I did as you recommended re the reversal and I still could not click on Remove. Not sure what that is all about. So I moved on to the System Restore problem.
BUT whatever I did or did not do, I got the System to restore to 07-19 which put things back in working order without the "print directory......" in Windows which is fine with me.
I appreciate what you did for me as my computer is more to my liking. It seems when I like something for my computer it just may not be to my advantage to use it. Especially when it does not apply to XP. DUH!
    Thanks again.
    Claire :D:D

Gkad to hear you managed a fix :)

If you want to add 'Generate Directory List' to the right click context menu in Windows Explorer look here ....
