    Hi,

Does anyone know how to prevent the "printers" virtual directory being automagically recreated by IIS when you reboot?

    I have performed the following:

Install IIS minus everthing except the common files, the snap in, and the webserver itself.

Using the IIS manager remove the default website and recreate a new webserver configured for static only pages, pointing to a different root directory. Note at this point there is no printers virtual directory. The website works, and i am happy!

    Reboot.

Go into IIS manager and look at the config of the webserver, and the printers virtual directory has been added to it. -- this is what i want to prevent from happening.

if i delete the printer files (c:\winnt\web\printers) i then get an error in the IIS manager and in the event log.

How can i stop the printers virtual directory from being created and not have an error message in the logs/IIS manager?

    Thanks in advance,

    Richard

Remove the .printer mapping and disable the Web-based Printing local policy using group policy editor (gpedit.msc).
