    That is ISDELETE not 1STDELETE.

Several programs can cause this but Adaware is the one I have caught before more than once.

    Are you using Adaware?

If so uninstall it Cleanup temps and registry then reboot.

If isdelete mesage is gone then install Adaware 2008!

Diskeeper? This may help: (long threaded post but information may help in understanding what may be going on. Note: Adaware is mentioned here but others are also.)
The Diskeeper Blog: Program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK

If you do decide to use some of the advice given by the site please make sure you have a backup of the registry or at least export this hkey to safe place, before editing. Should anything you do to this hkey and values prove unhelpful you can always restore the original values via the exported hkey.reg.

Has any Lavasoft (Adaware) product been installed on this machine and been un-installed?

If you search for and find isdelete rt click and get properties and then Digital Signitures does it not say something like Lavasoft AB?

Boot to Safe mode, clean with ATF-Cleaner and CCleaner (both Temp and Registry).

Clear all event logs so they will be empty and immediately reboot to normal.

Then before doing anything recheck the Event logs for anything related to IsDelete then get back to us.

OR if you just want it gone do the below!

If still there get Autoruns and look under Boot Execute, first uncheck it and reboot and run a day or 2 if no issues then go back and delete it.

    Hi Ann

Very good Ann, please no offence but....

Good try, thanks for steping in, but this one is tricky.

No that is not it, do not remove Autocheck.

This is reported on the www as a possibility only because isdelete runs from "Boot Execute" and and a bunch of folks made assumptions.

Now there may be other issues related to Disk Keeper and Autcheck, likely not but the Isdelete is not related.

    Apologies mflynn,

Never meant to suggest that the deletion of the autocheck default values should be messed with. Neither does the site. It specifically mentions not to delete the default value of autocheck autochk * but pay attention to what may be added after it. The first few paragraphs merely explain where, in the registry the value added to autocheck boottime can be found or if it can be found. I do see what you mean by the file lsdelete is not related to diskkeeper but belongs to another program that added/set this to autorun at bootime. The link also states that "Another possibility is if you have run an anti-malware program that has removed the referenced executable from the system32 folder, but not changed the BootExecute registry to remove the "pointer" to that file. In that case you will also see this message, and may wish to clear it up.

    It goes further to explain:
When the program named is from a removed/uninstalled third-party program, the message is harmless. You should only be concerned if the default autochk program (or the program you do desire to run at boottime such as Diskeeper) itself does not run.
but if you do get this error and want to clean it up, here's what you need to do "

In retrospect, I can see where I should have chosen a better less complicated link to use for an FYI. Guess I got distracted by poster claim that this was tracked down to Diskeeper. I will definitely make an effort to be pickier in the future. While I can make sense of complex long winded posts and often enjoy reading these, other users may not...

    ---------
As a side note perhaps a look see at this hkey and a pasting of the value here on bbs will be a more direct method of figuring this out.

    No No Ann!

    No Apologies!

In rereading my last post it seemed kind of terse I did not mean it to be!

I really did mean you did great. The link is involved but necessary!

    From my post!
What does the Digital Signiture say on the properties of Isdelete?

And did you yet use AutoRuns to uncheck and disable it?

    Clarify?

Did you do a windows search for Isdelete.exe, when found did you rt click and get properties, then Digital Signitures.

    What does it say?

If it is attached to something besides Lavasoft then that would be good to know as it may point to an issue.

Then did you get AutoRuns http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/Autoruns.zip

Extract and run go to the Boot Execute TAB look for Isdelete.

I would uncheck it to stop it from running for a day or so, if no problem then go back to Autoruns-Boot Execute and rt click and delete it.

Get rid of the Isdelete issue and if Autocheck is a problem it will then be more appearent!

Besides there was not supposed to be any Lavasoft/Adaware to delete!:D

Yes go to that site Download the program. Unzip (extract) it.

Run it, it will have many TABS accross the top.

Click Boot Execute. There you will find Isdelete. Do not delete it first just uncheck it and reboot. Unchecked it will not run then if no other issues after a day or so go back and delete the unchecked entry for good.

Even if you did not understand the above you should have been able do do the below as I have asked for at least twice.

OK then the Isdelete file is already removed but the entry to run it is not.

So now using Autoruns as already instructed delete the reference to it.

    Reboot.

Now is there an error on boot?

    isdelete

I never make very positive state, ments about my mysterious computer but I think I have gotten rid of that pesky not found message.

My solution. start-run-regedit In window that opened I went to edit and then find. Typed in Lavasoft. One entry appeared (much to my surprise) and I deleted it. I next went back to edit and thern find and typed in Bootexecute. Several entries appeared when I opened it and I then deleted manually information for isdelete. Next I shut down and rebooted and held my breath. No IS delete message briefly flashed on my screen. To be sure I waited till I had fully booted and then shut down and restarted again. NO ISDELETE message again.
