I have XP Home with all the automatic updates. Almost every time I boot, and open Outlook Express it opens and shows folders but doesn't load the messages. If I try to come out of it, it gives a message saying it hasn't completed loading yet and I have to use the "end now" button on the message. Sometimes I have to do this three times before it will finally loads completely. TIA

Run through the checks and actions outlined here ....

An Outlook Express basic repair kit

Note that the command regsvr32 msjava.dll will almost certainly fail as it is unlikely that you have msjava installed - nothing to be concerned about.

    From a PM .....

Thanks for your reply to my message loading problem on my OE 6.00.2900.2180, running on XP-Home edition with all upgrades.

Delete Temp. Internet Files, and Compact All Folders and Reregister Outlook Express didn't help. In Reregister libraries they all reregistered (even msjava) except "mshtml.dll ", which is found but can't be registered due to "dllregister Server entry port was not found" message. I have retried it several times over the last hour and continue to get the same message. Any advise for me on how to handle this? TIA -

Following a little research it would appear that mshtml.dll cannot be registered that way anymore with IE7 - are you using IE7?

Outlook Express doesn't load messages when started

    Yes, I'm running IE 7.0.5630.11

About 30% of the openings the messages will load, but the other 70 % I have to close it and reopen it, up to three or four times, beefore they load.
    TIA - Dennis

OE is an integral part of IE - my best suggestion is to roll back to IE 6 through Add/Remove Programs and see if the problem is resolved, but first ....

I suspect some corruption in the store folders or a size problem - what size are they ? The 'official' limit in OE is 2 Gb, but OE starts to play funny long before then ....

Search for *.dbx files - include hidden files and folders and check sizes.

    O.E. 6 not loading messages

The folders are all very small so I don't think it is a size problem. In "An Outlook Express basic repair kit ", when I get to the Create a New Identity" section, on step #3, after I type a new name and hit OK, it asks me for addresses, account names, passwords, etc. As this isn't mentioned in the lists, should I go ahead with this process. I'm afraid of losing what little functionality I have left with O.E. which is loading messages only one out of three attempts now. TIA

Hit the OK button as instructed - in the Identity Added dialogue answer Yes to switch to the new identity.

The Internet Connection Wizard opens - click on Cancel - a slight change in the latest version of OE 6 it would seem ....
    Then follow instruction #6 onwards.

The messages will then be imported into the new identity - they will also remain in the old identity so, in theory nothing to lose :)
