    My computer does not shutdown properly. Everytime I try shutting down from XP, my computer restarts. How do I fix this? Please help.

    Hello. What brand and model of motherboard do you have? Also, which processor? It sounds to /me like an ACPI/APM issue...

    If the system experiences a fatal error during shutdown, and it is set to automatically restart in My Computer properties (right-click), Advanced, Startup and Recovery, then it will restart. Try removing the check from the automatically restart box. This may solve the problem, or at least give you a blue screen with the error so it can be explored.

    If you have Roxio installed, you need updates from http://www.roxio.com/ or you need to uninstall Roxio and repair the following registry keys:

    Run--> regedt32

    Navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Security

    Remove the key for Etetnt.mpd.

    Navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services

    Remove the keys for: Cdr4vsd, Cdralw2k, Cdr4_2k, and Cdudf.
