So I bought this new motherboard and install it and all... The PC starts fine and just after it finishes loading XP it reboots. I could only use windows in safe mode and then I remembered that I can repair xp so I repaired it (thinking that it may have been a driver conflict)... It does exactly the same as before except that I cant enter in safe mode....

I'm thinking of formatting my HDD, but its just like repairing it, isnt it? I mean, if I repaired my copy and the **** PC rebooted after loading xp, would'nt formatting and reinstalling windows have the same problem?

    My old computer specs:
MoBo: Intel D101GGC with pentium 4 HT
    1 GB RAM DDR @ 200MHz

    My new specs
MoBo: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 with Athlon 64x2
    2 GB RAM DDR2 @ 800MHz

    Same ol' Hardware:
    DVD Writer
2 HDDs. One connects via IDE and the other via SATA
ATI Radeon HD2600 PCI Express x16

So what can I do to solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

If you have installed any PCI add-in cards, remove them.

Check through the motherboard manual, check whether you need to make any special setting in the BIOS for using a single graphics card or dual graphics cards.

It is very likely to be a problem with a driver, so if you cannot find an answer, go into the BIOS and try disabling unnecessary hardware one at a time, for example, audio, then network/LAN adapter, then USB and/or Firewire, etc.

If the hard drive still had the XP install for the Intel setup and you switched the motherboard/processor then yes you will run into this problem. Switching from Intel to AMD I would do a fresh install of XP, install the motherboard and other hardware drivers then download the updates for XP.
