When I go to particular sites, I get "IE encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close. The following add-on was running when this problem occurred: Flash9f.ocx ".

Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix? Thanks a million!!

Thanks PeteC. I uninstalled AdobeFlash and then reinstalled it. It is still giving me the same problem. Anything else I should try?

IE 7. Which I have been using for a while without a problem, until now.

    Ok - in IE 7 go to Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable/Disable Add-ons and disable all Add-ons.

Go to one of the problematic sites and test.

Re-enable the add-ons one by one, testing each time and see if a particular Add-on is causing the problem.

Feel free to post one or two of the troublesome URL's if you like.

This is soooo frustrating. Here is what I have done so far:
uninstalled Flash and then reinstalled. - same problem

    Then
disabled all add-ons except Flash - same problem

    Then
Updated IE7 and then uninstalled/reinstalled Flash.
Disabled all add-ons except Flash - same problem.

What I have noticed is the error does not occur when I reach a site, it usually occurs when I have logged into the site and am navigating around the site.

Any more ideas that I should try? Thanks for all of your help.

If you disable Flash, apart from the possible loss of functionality does IE still crash?

Is this a recent problem? Can you tie it down to any software you loaded or updated - IE 6 > 7 for example?

One particular site works fine if I disable Flash. With it enabled, it would crash at the log in screen. Another site won't even give me the log in screen without Flash being enabled so I can't check it.

This is a recent problem. I haven't loaded any new software. Just automatic updates but I have no idea what they are.

I did have some problems with Video Wave where I had to remove IE7 and then reinstall it when I was finished with the Video Wave project. The Video Wave site said there was a conflict with IE7 and to remove it and reinstall later. The problem did not exist before I removed IE7 and while I was using IE6. Seems like it started when I reinstalled IE7.

I will try uninstalling IE7 and see what happens.

Oh well, that did not work. I uninstalled IE7 and enabled all the add-ons. It crashed with the same error message.

Seems to me that VideoWave caused some problems and may still be the source of the current problem. Can you uninstall it and test?

Failing that does IE 6 still work OK - you will need to uninstall 7 again.

This is what I have done.

Remove Video Wave & IE7 - It crashed

    Remove Flash
    Restart
    Reinstall Flash
    Restart
    Crashed with same error message.

I can't think of anything else to try.
