I got a spam apparently from AOL titled "Try AOL 7.0 Free for 1,000 Hours!" When I try to open it, my computer crashes. It's only 5K and doesn't appear to have an attachment. I'm getting very annoyed because 1) It's from AOL 2) It's crashing my computer 3) I can't report the spam from AOL that's crashing my computer.

Anyone know of a way to open it so I can report it as spam, or do I have to just **** it up and delete this one?

I'd simply delete it. I doubt that reporting the spam will get you very far anyway

Hey, them's fightin' words to someone who's been dutifully reporting it through snow, wind, rain, sleet, sludge, for richer or poorer, till death to the spammers.

I use spamcop to report it, and quite a few ISP's are using spamcop's list to block known spammers. So, if enough people report it, it will hurt them.

One problem with reporting spam, especially spam that's supposedly from AOL or hotmail or yahoo or any other account that is either free or gives you umpteen free hours, is that the spammer has probably abandoned the account by the time you report it. Another even more likely possibility is that the header is forged and the message isn't really from anyone at an AOL address. Spammers often forge their address.

The delete key is your friend.

In this instance, I don't thinks it's worth reporting the "spam" because it does sound as though it may genuinely be from AOHell who (rather surprisingly) are not spammers. IMO, it more likely that you (unwittingly) signed-up to receive to receive advertising from AOHell - for example, by forgetting to uncheck the "Please send me spam" box in the smallprint of a newsletter subscription.

ORDB and SBL also provide similar worthwhile blocking services which are implemented by a number of ISP's.

As an aside, this may interest you. It's a service which I have used for quite a long time and is rather effective.
