I recently started using FF 3 & fell in love with it straight away. What I liked best were the addons & ended up loading about a dozen. Now I want to make a backup of all the addons. How can I do it ?

You could just copy the extensions folder in your FF profile, but why stop there?

The Bookmark Backup extension will automatically create a backup of the profile files and folders that you've previously designated each time FF closes. Personally, I use it to backup my complete profile.

I backup the entire \USERS\username\ directory to a USB external hard drive weekly as a straight copy. Additionally, the entire PC is backed up separately as a restorable image.

    Thanks to all of you.

I have just downloaded the program that broni suggested. Would be trying it out later.

I could not install Bookmark Backup as suggested by JSS3rd. The FF gives the following error:

Firefox could not install the file at

    http://www.pikey.me.uk/mozilla/extensions/bookmarkbackup.xpi

    because: Unexpected installation error
Review the Error Console log for more details.

That error may be caused by your firewall.
    Disable it, and try again.

    rsinfo,

Would just like to add, that making a regular/daily back up of your entire Firefox folder, located here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox
is absolutely the best insurance you can have, to safeguard against losing mail, bookmarks, address book, etc.

    You don't need an add-on, simply create a backup folder, e.g. C:\Backup
Copy the Firefox folder and paste it in the Backup folder.

When I install an add-on, I also right click on the "Install" tab, and save the xpi file to my HDD.

    FWIW

    Ramona,

I am using bookmarks from IE only through an addon and I use Windows Mail. So I don't need to backup my entire FF folder. I just need to backup the addons so that they can be reinstalled.

I use a simple, and, probably, simple minded approach. All my .xpi files are saved, and to make it easy to find them, I have them saved as 3.0 .xpis, 2.0 .xpis, and Themes(.jar) files folders. Everything is backed up to an external drive.

I am now using Mozbackup as suggested by broni. Works beautifully.
