    hello again,
i searched for the solution on here, but i found many different ones. so i guess if u dont mind i will ask a question.
my laptop has gone mad. for examples i can custumize my desktop and change the colors and size of everything and what not. but when i open a website, it always stays the same color, white. no graphics. its completly minimal. im using mozilla. i just installed it last night. couple months ago i custumized everyting to white and tiny and i changed it back but when i open up the internet, it never changed.
(appolozies for the misspellings and grammer.)

    so, hmm...?

    help?

Since I don't know what you've tried so far....

Go to Control Panel>Display>Desktop tab and click on the Customize Desktop button.

In the window that opens, go to the Web tab and uncheck everything there, click OK.

Back in Display Properties window, click Apply. Then make the changes you want, click OK.

    See if the changes stick.

The problem you describe is often caused by some sort of malware.

There is a free software that is useful in cases like this when there is no definite clues to what the problem might be.

It addresses several common problem and re-registers several dll's that can cause unusual problems.

Get Dial-A-Fix and install it. Then open the program and check ALL of the boxes on the page it presents. Then click the GO button. It will take a few minutes to complete so be patient. When it finishes, reboot and see if things are better.

This is worth a shot even if it doesn't fix your present problem since it will likely be useful as a first line fix-it tool in the future.

I have used it and consider it safe. Others here have used and tested it as well with good results.

What gets displayed in the browser window (content such as images, multimedia, etc.), and which fonts and colors are used for background in the browser (Mozilla browsers), are controlled by 5 things:

    1. the html code used by the Web page developer.
    2. browser preferences for font and bg styles IF the Web page code does not specify any.
    3. browser themes.
    4. browser extensions (add ons and/or toolbars).
    5. Mozilla can be customized further by editing this CSS in this file in your Mozialla User Profile directory:
    profile-directory-name/chrome/userChrome.css
    See http://www.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Editing+configuration+files

This may be the problem....Chk to see if it is:
    In Firefox v2 or v3, clk-->View-->Page Style-->Basic Page Style.
If "No Style" is selected, you will get very plane white pages.
Select "Basic Page Style" and all should look normal.

    On firefox toolbar
    click on tools
    click on options
    click on "content "
In the category entitlted "Fonts &Colors " click on the colors button
check "allow web pages to choose their own colors unstread of mine "

    Apply and okay out....
Did this fix background color? In the case of the site you used, for example/jpg, it would be an olive green.

yeah, that did nothing. i just swtiched computers and realized that this site was blue. this is driving me nuts.
i think it could be when i custumized my comp to white a while ago, it stayed that way. i changed it back to normal, but for some reason internet stayed the same. my comp has gone mad.
if u cant figure it out. its ok. ill deal with it.

thanks for ur help anyway. i appriciated it much!!!!
    :)
    peace

    oliveOyi,
Have you given any thought to creating another account and logging in on that one just to check and see if your the problem is corrected?

Have you ever used or messed with the "Accessibility Features ", either in browsers or via the control panel?

Does IE show the same symptoms?

    When you say
How exactly did you do this and what did you change?

Are you giving up or are just plain tired of dealing with this? This board and it's members, myself included, will continue to keep plucking away at this until we find a fix or you say "Enough Already ".....:)

A link to restore any "accessibility" settings to defaults, if indeed you have used this in the past:
    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
    Number #135 on the right.

Just to be clear, are you saying the Kellys Korner link, "Accessibility" restore, has fixed the problem! Are you now seeing web pages in site styles?

If you say it's fixed then it's a done deal. Your most welcome and thank you for the update(s).
