That could very well be. Would not be the first time I have seen that be true.

Sometimes they ( MODEMS ) are items that I think should be canned also.

But it that case " canned " takes on a different meaning. That meaning being TRASH CANNED. Or you no longer work here because you has done been FIRED because you ain't doing you job.

"Regardless the machine is back in working order "

    Convenient response. Convenient memory too.

What happened to your staunch defense of the 360mb HD?

Seems to me you guys followed my advice after telling me what a jerk I was in recommending trashing it and how it certainly was no waste of (in your words) your time.

Where should I send that crow and how do you like it cooked?

    ;)

During the course of events in this case many things happended.

Original thoughts and/or ideas had to be scrapped and new ones invented.

YEP. A change of mind was deffinetely done. Even as much as a 180º turnaround.

Had to approach the enemy from a different angle cause the original angle got met with strong resistance.

    But on the bottom line it makes no difference whose advice was used. A solution was found and;

the machine is back in working order

And it is the end results that counts.

So let us knock off this useless and annoying nonsense which is getting nobody anywhere.

And before someones else knocks us off. ( alias we get CANNED )

    Grand finale

I like the adage about being canned. The English language in the USA has a lot of words that have several meanings depending from what part of the country you come from. It's called a play with words...................................
    New subject
I know that when I removed the sound card and the modem card from my pc I had no problem installing the Win95 operating system.

I not thru with the 360Mb hard drives of which I have 2. I have a old 486 Dx in the basement and I'll waste some time on it to get it running with Ms-dos 6,22 and win3.1. Luckly I still have the software. I brought my first computer in 1986- 8088. I don't know to much about computers, but it's sure fun learning.

Thank you, everyone for all your help every little bit helped.:) ;) :D

    Modem,WIN95

I installed my modem and the driver, but I can't dial out. I keep getting the message "Dial up connection can not detect modem." How can I find out how many pc cards the pc can detect. I checked the config file and all that it shows is device=C:\windows\cs4232c.exe /w. I think that I want to add something about carddrive.exe file can any body type me a correct path for this ? Or maybe give me a clue what to do. :(
