Welcome to the Forum, Pat Boden!

    Hi Pat,

You can certainly save your emails to a floppy, Zip disk, or CD.

To save to a diskette, these are the guidelines:

NOTE: A mail folder within Netscape Messenger is not the same as a folder created on your hard drive. Netscape creates a file ON your hard drive for each folder you have within Messenger. They are merely representations of the way you
    have mail organized in Messenger.

In Messenger, place all the mail you wish to store into a new mail folder called Backup or whatever you prefer.

Close all Netscape windows and open Windows Explorer. Locate the Mail folder:
    (c:\program files\netscape\users\ "profile name "\mail).

Within this folder you'll see a new file named for the mail folder you just created in Messenger. Simply right click the file, and select Rename. Give it a descriptive name. You should also rename the file's corresponding .snm file.

Then create a new folder on your hard drive and place these files into the new folder so you do not later
    confuse them with other files.

Restart Netscape and open Messenger. You should see that you no longer have as many messages taking up valuable system memory.

Later, when you want to review the messages you have backed up, use Windows Explorer to move the files back to the Mail folder under your profile name.

Restart Netscape, and Messenger will recognize the new folder and it will contain your messages.
    -------------

If you want to save the messages as a .txt (text) file, simply highlight the messages, click on File|Save As and select "File ".

Let us know is you have questions.
