I'm getting what I seem to of found in a couple places on this forum, the error when I try to open a folder or something that says "System Error! Attention, 'User'!" Something something may be trojan/virus things in Windows XP, Ra Ra okay or no. (Obviously I have yet to press Okay). Every time I get the error, it tries to pop up a website also, (which before, google blocked).
However my internet is no longer working. Which I have no idea if is related to this or not. (I have to use my laptop to relay things). At first I just thought the internet issue was just the July (6th?) Windows update that buggered with Zone Alarm, but I did the little fix they posted on their site or what not (Which I had to do to my laptop as well, which is obviously working now), with no avail. (I know its getting internet though because I can Ping websites but my browsers do nothing; maybe someone can see something I'm not.)

I ran Hijackthis but I personally didn't see anything really wrong, can anyone help? I don't know what you would need other than maybe the Hijackthis log.

(Also, I may not be able to respond right away, its amazingly early in the morning and I'm still awake for some ungodly reason trying to figure this stuff out. AKA: I might pass out. Thanks in advance for any replies.)

    Hi Tierial
    Welcome to Windowsbbs.

Please download this and run it.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) from here or here and save the file to your desktop.

Double click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select 'Perform Quick Scan', then click Scan.
    • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note below)
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Post the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Let me know if you can connect after running MBAM and post the log.

    Thanks
    Geri
