Zone Alarm and New MS Update ISSUE

    As I've posted here, there's a fix.

    But yea, it has always been a problem with ZA if Microsoft issues updates. Says a lot about how ZA interact with the OS.

    I'm afraid if you follow the forum thread in the link you provided you will see that the "fix" does NOT work. Even a clean uninstall/re-install doesn't.

    The conclusion is that the only way to run with ZoneALarm at the moment is with the firewall reduced from High to Medium, or to uninstall the update, and we'll have to wait for a resolution from ZoneLabs/Microsoft.

    Or as the original quote suggested; change to an alternative firewall software.

    I believe the Windows Update that is causing the problem is due to a major internet flaw that was found: -

    Sunbelt CounterSpy is not a firewall - Sunbelt Personal Firewall from the same company is.

    Might be a good time to switch to Vista. No problems at all with ZoneAlarm AntiVirus (V7.1.248.000) and Vista (SP1).

    Update 7.0.483.000 fixes the trouble !! at least it did for me a couple of days ago
