    Hi to all.
First of all..i am new to windows server OS..so basically my knowledge is limited. Recently i got into a very nasty trouble. I tryed to search the forum but i didn't find anything to help me, so i'm posting this.
    My problem is:
There is a server installed with Windows server 2003 with Terminal services in one location. In another location there is a PC with Windows XP Professional SP2 and a HP P1005 laserjet printer installed.
On the server is an application in wich the PC's user form the other location is working.I know it is possible to work form the PC on the server remotely(with remote desktop) and if the user wants to print his work on the local printer it is possible. I know that the PC's printer driver must be installed on the server too and when the PC's user connects remotely to the server in the "Options" of the remote connection you must check the "Printer" in order to be able to print from server.
Well i did all that..now when the user works on the server remotely, at the server printer appears "HP P1005 from <user computername> session X "(x= a number). In the program when he wants to print (some billing program..i don't know what kind) the printer HP P1005 appears as option. When i set it to print on it there are a few scenarios that happen:
    1. nothing happens...at the print jobs nothing appears.
    2. at the print job appears the print but it doesn't print at the printer.
    3. at the print job appears(or somethimes doesn't appears anyting) but locally at the PC's print and faxes windows on the HP P1005 printer appears that it has several hundred of jobs(the job given from the remote server multiplied).

I don't know how to solve this problem. Before the HP P1005 it had a Canon ip1300 printer wich caused him another problem(from time to time, while working remotely on the server the printer dissapeared from the server's printer list and the the solution was:restarting the server or restarting the printer spooling service).

If u can help me and if u need extra info please tell me. I will gladly cooperate.

    thank you in advance.

    Hi Boby

First clear any old printers from the remote from both the printers folder and any software in Add/Remove related to this printer.

Second do the same on the Server (printers that don't exist) get rid of them.

Third and this is what most miss! Install the exact same printer driver on the Server directly as is on the remote client. They must match exactly.

If you are unsure download the driver from the printer mfg site and uninstall from both client and server and re-install from the same driver.

Fourth not necessary in most cases but on the client set the printer on the remote client to Shared! Give it a short simple share name like hp4200 etc.

    Get back with results!

    Mike

    question

I'm wondering..will it help if i reinstall the HP P1005 driver on the server not as adiminstrator, but with the remote account user..i don't know..maybe it has something with who installed the drivers..could this be a solution? did anyone encountered such problem...i'm asking because it's kind of complicated because i will have to stop all the other clients who connect the same way to the server so i must make an announce with a few hours before that. thanks.
