    Hello

    When you install Netscape Communicator, you'll get Netscape Messenger as E-mail program.
    When you first start it from NCommunicator toolbar(Communicator>Messenger)you're asked if you wish N.Messenger to be your default mail prog;you just need to check "don't show this message again ",click YES button and you're done.

    success

    Hi PAULDEP,

    If for any reason that doesn't work, you can use this solution:

    Communicator as Default Browser

    If communicator is not your default browser, and when you start it up it does not ask to become the default browser, then:

    With communicator CLOSED, locate the prefs.js in your C:\Program Files\netscape\users\(username)\ folder.

    BACKUP PREFS.JS BEFORE PROCEEDING TO EDIT!

    Open the file in notepad, or some other text editor, and find the line that reads:

    user_pref( "browser.wfe.ignore_def_check ", true);

    Change the true to false and save the file.

    If the line above is NOT there then you must ADD it to the prefs.js file after changing the "true" to "false "

    Now when you start communicator it should ask; .....indicate "Yes" that it should become the default.

    You might also want to change your settings in
    START|SETTINGS|CONTROL PANEL|INTERNET OPTIONS
    Click on the "Program" Tab, and remove the tick from:
    Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser.
