I don't see the Portfolio in Start-up, but it starts up every time! Does anyone out there know how to make it stop? Such a nuisance since I don't use it.

One of the startup items that is not in the Startup folder I guess - like many others :)

I favour CodeStuff Starter to control my startups - if it's listed there you can disable it.

    Thank you, PeteC

Thank you, PeteC. I've downloaded Starter. I'll go now and install it and see if I can get rid of the troublesome Portfolio. Thanks.

Sorry, Goddez, I must not have been clear. The problem is the Portfolio is not listed in Startup.

I researched my box for Works, which I use infrequently for some old databases - seems to be Works 2004 ...

When Portfolio starts if you click on the x to close a message pops up asking if you want Portfolio to run at satarup - say No. Screenshots.

    No options

PeteC, my version of Works is 8.5, and when I click on the x, the only thing that happens is that it closes (temporarily); I get no menu with options.

I did install Starter, thank you very much, but Portfolio wasn't listed in that, either. Any other ideas?

    Difficult when I don't have access to 8.5 :)

However in my version if the Portfolio is opened there is a Tasks button > Options to the screenshot. May be similar in yours.

    Options

Oh, you're right, PeteC. I had forgotten about that because it wasn't helpful. There are 6 options, but none of them turn the darn thing off permanently.

The only further suggestion I have is to go to Add/Remove Programs or the Vista equivalent and see if there is an option under Change/Remove to uninstall Portfolio.

Beyond that I don't think I can go any further :(

    Thank you

Tried that before anything else. Thanks, anyway, PeteC.

    Portfolio removed!

PeteC, I want you to know that Starter worked! The Portfolio that I was having trouble removing was on my husband's computer. Before I talked with you, I activated Portfolio on my computer. Then I talked with you and installed Starter on MY computer where Portfolio didn't show up. Well, this morning Portfolio is gone from my computer, so obviously I had activated it just temporarily yesterday. Good! So, I installed Starter on my husband's computer and Bingo! there was Portfolio in the list. Problem solved.
Thank you, again, and sorry for making it so complicated when it didn't need to be.
