    this is not a reply

    Good morning Dontatus!
Yes I did Mean BIOS(now you know I'm back)
    This is A desktop..
the boot devices are lined up this way:First Boot Device, Floppy
Second Boot Device, Hard drive, Third Boot Device Cd rom.
I would like to get the CD rom as the first boot.
I have the restore disc in the drive but the hard drive
keeps booting first (there is no floppy in the floppy drive)
I could not find a way to do this, there are no prompts there.
I spent a Day at intel, they are no smarter than I.
    Here is my system inormation
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Media Center
    Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600
    OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
    System Name NONE

It's 6am on a winter morning here so I'm not really fired up yet but let's see--- when you boot you should see on screen a key to press to enter Bios Setup. Often Del, or F1. Press this key when booting. Look for an entry called Boot Sequence -- you may have to look in the diff categories listed to find it. Instructions on navigation IE: what keys to use will be a bottom of screen.

Alter the boot sequence to have CDRom first then exit --- generally by pressing Esc key, save those settings, hit Enter and boot up will start. If you have the recovery disk in things should happen from there.

    Good luck .................. dontatus.

When you are in the BIOS, you may need to use the up and down arrow keys and press Enter to select and make changes to the startup sequence settings. When they are selected, it is USUALLY a matter of pressing the plus(+) or minus(-) keys to make the drive go up or down in the list.

There will be a list of key functions on the screen somewhere (maybe at the bottom, maybe on the right-hand side) that give you keystrokes for making changes.

Hi sonk909, your Intel D845GVFN board gives instructions to Press F2 when system is booting. This puts you into BIOS and the first screen should show 7th. column down what your 1st. Boot device is. As Matt wrote in his post - press Enter and use the arrow UP and Down keys on your keyboard to select the boot device required - then press Enter - press F10 to save and exit. These instructions will be in your user manual or if you Google Intel BIOS you can find it in PDF form which you can print out later. Hopes this helps as I don't want to confuse what has already been posted. Neil :D
