When I right click my C Drive and click properties, it says 50GB is taken, but when I use WinDirStat to see where that 50GB Went, it says that only 37GB of my Hard Drive is taken. If I manually take all the folders in my C drive and add the size up, it also adds to around 37 GB. Why is Vista adding extra gigabytes?

I wonder what WinDirStat is taking into account - does it include the pagefile. system restore (System Volume Information), system backups ? Those would be my thoughts based on XP - I do not use Vista.

When you did the sums in C:\ did you enable show hidden files & folders and protected operating system files?

When I did my count, it showed hidden folders, but not pagefile.sys but I estimated with my count (ex. round 9GB up to 10) and WinDirStat did count pagefile.sys and other system files.
