HD went to lunch on my laptop. After replacing and doing a system restore I am having network problems.

    Workgroup is NIGHTENGALE.
    Name is Randy's HP Laptop.
    Full computer name is LAPTOP.
    HDD is named LaptopHDD.

All these settings are identical to setup before the crash. Now I can access the desktop computer from laptop, but when I try to access the laptop from the desktop computer I only can by using this address:

\\192.168.0.102\LaptopHDD\Documents and Settings\All Users (and it shows up in My Network Places as a regular folder, not a network folder)

\\LAPTOP\LaptopHDD\Documents and Settings\All Users does not work. I can browse from My Network Places and see the LAPTOP computer, but when I click the + sign beside it nothing happens. I also can see the 192.168.0.102 computer.

Any ideas what I should do? It works fine, but I suppose only until another machine nabs that IP address?

Something simple, but does the hard drive/folders have sharing turned on?

If this is XP, remove (by uninstalling it) the "QoS Packet Scheduler" from the network connection properties.
