This Notebook has a problem with the power plug on the back.

I can hold the connector pressed to one side and the thing works and the battery charges. Right now I have a rubber band holding it pressed to the side and It charged all night with no problem.

I need instructions or a link to find out how to get inside this pig. I'm sure I could fix the problem if I could get to the bad connection. I tried tuner cleaner but that helped nothing.

I took out all the screws on the bottom but there must be a secret handshake or voodoo that will allow getting in there without breaking it in half.

Toshiba site was of no help as far as I could see. What I need is a blow up picture I suppose.

    Toshiba Satellite A70 / A75 laptop

I can only assume their is no warranty covering this computer. If notebook is under warranty, I would suggest following that route for bids / costs / repair.

How to dismantle Toshiba Satellite A70/A75. Repair laptop yourself. Disassembly manual with pictures.

May want to read this .... A bad connection between DC-IN power jack on the system board and the system board is a very common problem with Toshiba Satellite M35X and Toshiba Satellite A70/A75 notebooks

    Side Note
I've never repaired a notebook, but I would suggest full backups prior to dismantle / repair. Not knowing how involved the following would be, but removing "sensitive components" such as memory sticks and HDD may reduce potential risks.
    Good Luck :)

    Thank you very much DennisL.

I will read up and it may prompt me to take it to Houston for repair.

I almost had it open, then I got chicken afraid I would break some of those parts in half.

    Bill,

You're a coward - as long as you don't force anything, it will pop apart. There is some bad news though - more likely than not, that is a surface mount plug and you shouldn't be attempting to solder this yourself. It is very easy to burn the traces on your motherboard.

    ;)

You are right, Rockster. If it was mine I would have cracked it right away. But it belongs to my daughter and I wouldn't want to break her stuff.

The links took me to a place where I can take it apart and do the repair.

As far as the soldering goes, I have 44 years of experience in electronics repair from HF transmitters through microwave communications and the last 15 years in repair of gaming machine MB and monitors.;)
