    Here's the deal:
I have a dead Seagate Barracuda 200GB that I need a replacement controller card for, so I can hopefully recover it's data. The card must be an exact match.
    Specs are: Model: ST3200826A, S/N: 4ND1VFZE
Seagate does NOT have this card, so I'm on my own. They are replacing the drive (2nd failed drive of theirs in 10 months!), and I have 30 days to turn the drive over to them, so I need a card pretty quick. The card may do no good at all, but it's my only shot at recovery. (I don't have the bucks for a recovery firm to do it - about $500.)
I'm looking for any possible leads.
    Thx guys!

Seems odd that the card id needed in order to recover any data on the drive. If the drive will spin up (power up) then likely the drive can still be accessed and the data recovered. If the drive won't power up then a recovery firm is only option.

Have you tried using the drive in another computer as a secondary drive? And if boot the other comp w/ a live linux cd then no special controller card should be needed. (there are adapters that can connect any type of drive to a usb port)

After re-reading this I see you're saying something other than what I was reading.
What do you mean by s/h?

Might be a real long shot - but an old pc techo once told me to put a hard drive that has failed into the deepfreeze for a while and then hook up to pc - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt - I have succeeded once- with a sata drive that failed. Good luck!

OK, I've NEVER heard this one before, but I'm getting up right now to grab a plastic bag and put that puppy in the freezer.

Thx, and I'll let you know tomorrow what happens.
