LPT1 Printer Problem - Specified Port Is Unknown [LaserJet 4V]

Trying to setup a HP LaserJet 4V. Using a Port EPP/ECP Parallel PCI Card (http://www.startech.com/item-download/PCI1PECP-1-Port-EPPECP-Parallel-PCI-Card.aspx). Installed the NetMos drivers.

Detects the 4V printer and says: Cannot install this hardware. The specified port is unknown. Any help would be appreciated.

"LPT1 Printer Problem - Specified Port Is Unknown [LaserJet 4V] ", LPT1 is assigned to the parallel port that is hardwired onto the motherboard. The PCI card will use a virtual printer port. From the registry information you posted, it appears to have set the virtual port as LPT3.

From the instructions in the User Guide:

Look in Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT) for the number assigned to the PCI port (is it LPT3?).

In Control Panel -> Printers, if the Laserjet 4V is listed, right-click on it and and select Properties, you may be able to change the port under the Ports tab. Otherwise, I would delete that printer listing and run the Add New Printer wizard to install it again.

Check the other questions and answers in the Instruction Manual (under Troubleshooting). It tells you what to do if a number is not assiged to the port in Device Manager and also that older printers may only be able to use LPT1, in which case, they say you need to use an ISA Parallel card.
