I know I risk being seen as totally stupid but:

Helped a good friend set up his new computer today, he knows less than I do!!!!

I left him playing with it but then got a 'phone call saying the usual, "Start" etc. didn't work, he could see no obvious way to shut down via the key board and mouse.

We already accept we are stupid but would still appreciate a simple 'Shut Down' procedure please!!!! What have we missed?

    Many thanks,

    Stuart.

Ctrl + Alt + Del. There is a red shut-down button in the bottom right corner.

Thanks for that guys, is that how it is done each and every time? It seems a bit complicated compared to XP, Start>Turnoff computer>Standby/Turn-Off/Re-start etc.
