Is it NOT a good thing that Windows Genuine Advantage is disabled in FF 3?

This appeared in a list right after I installed FF3.

Where is this list? Genuine Advantage is for one reason only, to make sure that a user does not mess around with a Microsoft product . I has nothing to do with Firefox.

Well, I know what Windows Genuine Advantage is for so don't know what else to tell you.

I installed FF3 and right after doing so a window came up stating that some of my Themes weren't compatible and a couple of plug-ins. That was one of them.

    Thanks anyway.

    Pat,

Is this on a Vista Machine? If you don't have the Nightly Tester Tools add-on installed, try installing it, and then force the Windows Advantage plugin to be compatible. This is done with the Nightly Tester Tools.

Perhaps another member with Vista will let us know if they see the same thing in their Add-ons.

Yes, this is the Vista machine. I've never heard of the Nightly Tester Tools but will give it a whirl.

Duh!! Now I can't remember where that Plug-in list is hiding. I'll take a look later and make sure I didn't permanently remove anything. There is about 10 or 12 items plus a few themes.

    Thanks.

    Pat,

The Add-ons are listed in: Tools | Add-ons

The Nightly Tester Tools force an extension's compatibility with the browser, and useful when the creator of the extension hasn't caught up with the new version.

I, personally, do not think that there is a problem. May be the plugins is connected with Firefox, somehow, but I doubt that it should be. I have the Genuine Advantage installed, but it never tried to install a plugin. Maybe it was in the previous FF version, and there is even no way to disable it. Nothijng helps incompatible add-ons, in my experience, even when installation is forced.
I have AVG Search, and it is totally greyed out. But, it does not mean the AVG is disabled. You may want to refer to this page . First time I ever seen this.
