I finished my work and shut down my system.

then today morning i switched on my system
i got the error message "A disk Read error" press "CTRL+ALT+DEL" to restart.

then once again i tried to do fresh install windows XP ..

during setup it had copied all the files and restarted to install xp but when my system restarted its shows the windows XP loading page then an blue screen came after that no process carried on its still shown the empty blue screen

One thing I can guarantee...installing Ubuntu will not help you troubleshoot your Windows install problems.

You might want to try with something as simple as a new hard drive data cable but that's just a poke in the dark.

Use the Seagate SeaTools utilities to test the drive and data. Use the DiskWizard utilities to partition and format the drive.

Is the Windows disk you are using clean and free of scratches? Is it a retail version of Windows?

PS Windows and Linux/Ubuntu partition drives differently. Windows may not work on drives partitioned with other software (for example, I have had trouble using Partition Magic to make a partition).
