SP 3 has been added to my Home Edition and now svchost.exe is asking to go on line. How can I delete svchost or all of SP 3. I am using IE 6.

    Thank You

You cannot delete svchost - it is an integral Windows process which runs many Windows services. If you look in Task Manager > Processes you will see several entries for svchost - this is normal.

For an indepth explanation see here .....

    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/what-is-svchostexe-and-why-is-it-running/

If you open a cmd window and type in tasklist /svc you will be able to see which services, etc each svchost is running.

It is not unusual for one of those services to request/require internet acces for the purposes of updating etc.

To remove SP3 go to Add/Remove programs.

It is okay to let \Windows\System32\Svchost.Exe to access the internet, just do not grant it Server Rights through your firewall.
